Xuzhou, Jiangsu: Textile and Apparel Exports Break First by US$100 Million

On September 20, Business News Agency reported that data from the Xuzhou City Bureau of Commerce revealed a significant milestone in the city’s textile and apparel exports. From January to August this year, total exports in the sector reached $111 million, marking the first time the figure surpassed the $100 million threshold. This represents a substantial 42.4% year-on-year growth, continuing the fifth consecutive year of double-digit expansion for major export commodities in the region. The majority of these exports came from the clothing segment, with apparel exports reaching $73.576 million, up 26.1% compared to the same period last year. This accounted for 67.9% of the total textile and apparel exports. Meanwhile, textile exports totaled $35.623 million, reflecting a remarkable 96% year-on-year increase, making up 32.1% of the total. Key products exported include medical plastic gloves, printed plain cloth, and cotton baby clothes, which are in high demand globally. The primary markets for these exports were Japan, the United States, and France, with exports to these countries reaching $29.484 million, $27.272 million, and $7.62 million respectively. These figures show growth of 42%, 11.2%, and 24.8% year-on-year. Several companies have played a crucial role in driving this growth. Xuzhou Fushan Medical Products Co., Ltd. emerged as one of the top exporters, with a total of $36.147 million in exports—up 44.6% compared to the previous year. Other key players include Xuzhou Xinliyuan Printing Co., Ltd. and Xuzhou Tianhong Times Textile Co., Ltd., both contributing significantly to the city's expanding textile industry. With continued investment, innovation, and strong international demand, Xuzhou is well-positioned to maintain its momentum in the global textile and apparel market.
